Experimental Investigation for Developing an On-Board Diagnostic Tool for Monitoring the Health Condition of a Brake System of An Automobile Using A Vibration Based Machine Learning Approach Through Wireless Data Communication

The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST., India Project amounting to Rs. 25,69,500 from 2017 – 2020 is an ongoing Venture initiated by Dr. R. Jegadeeshwaran, Associate Professor, School of Mechanical and Building Sciences . The objective of this research work mainly concerns the use of signal processing technique to process vibration signals periodically and isolate information from noise due to road conditions. The suitable features are extracted from noise free signals which are then used for fault detection by classifier algorithms. The study focuses on fault diagnosis process to investigate the benefits and limitations of machine learning algorithms and find out the best data model for effective classification of brake conditions.
