A Study to Find the Last Glacial-Holocene Paleoclimatic and Paleoceanographic Evolution of Arabian Sea

The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India Project amounting to 10.79 Lakhs from 2017-2019 is an ongoing venture initiated by Dr. K. Mohan – School of Mechanical and Building Sciences in association with the Micropaleontology Research Lab. The objective of the Project is to find the ‘Last glacial-holocene paleoclimatic and paleoceanographic evolution of arabian sea : foraminiferal and stable isotopic evidences’. This is achieved by collecting and locating samples from Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP), Hole 723B, Leg 117 from Arabian Sea at Kochi Institute for Core Sample Research, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), Kochi, JAPAN. The primary aim of the project is to assess the climate change in the past 20,000 years and to predict the future weather patterns for the Indian Monsoon System.
