Faculty Development Centre (FDC)

Introduction
The Faculty Development Centre (FDC) at VIT Chennai, initially established as the Academic Staff College in 2010 and renamed in 2023, plays a crucial role in fostering
academic excellence and professional development. It serves as a hub for faculty training, collaborating with various schools and research centres to design and implement programs that cater to the evolving needs of academic professionals. A key initiative is the annual Faculty Induction Programme (FIP), a month-long orientation that helps new faculty integrate smoothly into the university by equipping them with essential teaching methodologies and insights into institutional culture. Additionally, FDC conducts a wide range of Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), offering half-day to five-day workshops on advanced teaching techniques, research methodologies, leadership development, and emotional well-being. To ensure continuous professional growth, the centre organizes workshops, seminars, and webinars that keep faculty updated with the latest trends in education and research. Beyond faculty training, FDC also supports staff development through specialized training in communication skills, soft skills, PowerPoint presentations, and Canva design, enhancing their efficiency, adaptability, and overall professionalism. Through these initiatives, FDC fosters a culture of lifelong learning, innovation, and excellence, empowering educators and staff to contribute effectively to both the university and the broader academic community.
