The Department of Physical Education, established in 2010, is located in the Gymkhaana Building and is dedicated to promoting physical fitness, well-being, and sports excellence among students and staff. Key highlights include:

  • Operating Hours:
    The department functions from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM on all working days to ensure accessibility to students and staff.
  • Extensive Sports Infrastructure:
    VIT provides multiple playgrounds, indoor courts, and various centres for physical education, helping students maintain peak physical and mental fitness while fostering a strong spirit of sportsmanship.
  • University Team Selections:
    Selection trials are conducted to raise university teams across various disciplines for AIU Inter-University and other prestigious tournaments.
  • Tournaments & Events:
    The department organizes national and state-level tournaments annually, offering students a platform to showcase their talent.
  • Scholarships & Awards:
    VIT offers scholarships and monetary awards, including:

    • Best Sportsman
    • Best Sportswoman
    • Best Outgoing Player (across various games)
    • Cash awards to medal winners and top performers
  • Staff Engagement:
    A separate annual sports tournament is conducted for VIT faculty and staff to promote health and camaraderie.
  • Community Outreach:
    The department organizes a free summer coaching camp for school students during the vacation period, promoting early sports involvement at the grassroots level.

The department also places a strong emphasis on the health and well-being of faculty and staff by conducting annual sports tournaments exclusively for VIT employees.
