Within a short span of time it has executed many major R&D projects and Consultancy services to Government agencies, Public and Private sector, Industries around the globe. VIT’s research strength lies in the dedicated faculty of high calibre, committed research scholars, with cutting edge facilities and laboratories.

It is necessary to have laboratories providing reliable results for any Industrial Consultancy or Research and Development. In its continued devotion to Quality, VIT has established VIT CHENNAI LABORATORIES -TESTING & CALIBRATION

(i) Testing Laboratories for certification of Materials/Products and (ii) Calibration laboratories for certification of instruments under diversified Engineering Faculties.

The Laboratories managed and marshalled by highly qualified and experienced Professors have been playing a pivotal role for the Research and Industrial consultancy to scale several peaks. In pursuit of obtaining exclusive accreditations for all the activities of the laboratories under international criteria ISO 17025-2017, the laboratory management system and technical infrastructure have been established with this base manual defining all procedures and policies. Earnest implementation of this system coupled with sound technical competence are aimed at leading the laboratory to the destination of accreditation under NABL, Quality Council of India, for the best testimony for Quality of highest order in all its endeavours that cater to national and international customers.

About TESTING LABS

VIT CHENNAI LABORATORIES has all equipment [Testing machines, Test and Calibration Equipment, Auxiliary equipment, Measuring instruments, Certified Reference materials, Calibration Reference standards and critical consumables] for each test or calibration with the required precision.

Test equipment includes a Compression Testing Machine, Universal Testing machines, Load Frames for Testing Columns and Beams, Sieve shakers, Brinell/ Rockwell Hardness Tester, Micro-Vickers hardness Tester etc. Major Electro-technical Calibration equipment is a Multifunctional Calibrator and Eight and a half digit Multimeter.

The laboratory is dedicated to high standard of professional scientific service for the customers of academic and industrial sector in all Testing and Calibration. Technical Competence, Impartiality, Consistency in execution, Precision and High degree laboratory work culture are the means to achieve the objective of Quality in laboratory operation. Reliability of results and customer satisfaction are primary mission of laboratory.
Commitment at all levels in principle and practice are ensured to achieve total compliance to requirements of standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Continual improvement adopting the latest technology and modernization of equipment and infra-structure are pursuits of the laboratory to achieve total quality in every sphere of work.

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai is proud to house a state-of-the-art Electro-Technical Calibration Laboratory. Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, the lab exemplifies precision, reliability, and excellence in calibration services. With certificate number CC-4077, our accreditation is valid from 17/10/2024 to 16/10/2028, underscoring our commitment to maintaining global standards.

Laboratory Capabilities

Our calibration laboratory is equipped to perform a wide array of electro-technical calibration tasks with high accuracy and efficiency.
1. Precision Multi-Product Calibrator :

    • Offers up to 8 ppm accuracy.
    • Capable of calibrating 18 types of instruments, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, RLC meters, data loggers, and power meters.
