Special Team Clubs

Team ASTREx is a special team under VIT Chennai working towards developing ground stations and student satellites. Our aim is to develop a student satellite as a part of ISRO Student Satellite Programme.

Achievements:

Developed a 137.5 MHz QFH (Quadrifilar Helical Antenna) to intercept APT signals from NOAA satellites.
Successfully intercepted signals from NOAA 15 satellites. After processing the received signal, extracted the image showing Eastern Coast of India as captured by NOAA 15 during its pass.

We also aim to compete in the annual American CanSat Competition representing VIT Chennai and India.

The confluence of these state-of-the-art advancements lends an unprecedented edge to our formidable creations.

Fortified by the generous patronage of distinguished entities like Ansys, SolidWorks, and Bosch India, we find ourselves propelled towards ever-greater horizons, whilst tirelessly endeavoring to secure the support of further esteemed sponsors. Earning esteemed accolades, we achieved an impressive standing among the top 16 participants in the formidable Flipkart Grid 2.0 Challenge, secured the laurels of second runners-up in the fiercely contested IIT Bombay Vision Safety Challenge, and most recently, emerged triumphant at a commendable 6th position in the esteemed TAC Challenge, held in Norway.

Team Technocrats Robotics is a dynamic and innovative special team of VIT Chennai university whose purpose is to design, prototype, and manufacture robots that tackle the

Team ATOM of VIT Chennai is an official Special team under VIT Chennai consisting of 80+ passionate students from different fields of study with an unconditional love for Robotics. We as a team focus on acting as a platform for young aspiring minds to prosper in the said field. We have made several robots including Line Follower, Maze Runner, Robo Racer, FPV Drone, Robo-Soccer, Battle-Bots, RC Nitro Car, Robo Sumo Robot, Line Maze, Autonomous Drone, Swarm Drones, Intelligent Ground Vehicle using LIDAR from scratch as of now and have thus participated in several competitions conducted in varies universities and by varies organizations across India and made impressing marks in those competitions, thereby winning competitions.

In addition, we have also involved ourselves in several eco- friendly innovative projects, including agriculture-friendly robots, Personalized Alarm system, Smoke Detection System, People counter, Object detection using OpenCv and DNN supplanting with customized Models and Weights, Happy Face Detector using Haar-Like Cascades, AquaPhonics and so on.

Our mission is to represent India and VIT Chennai in various National and International Competitions and presently, we aim to compete in the Latin American Space Challenge and the INTERCOLLEGIATE ROCKET ENGINEERING COMPETITION-SPACEPORT AMERICA CUP against some of the most ambitious teams across the globe.
Our longstanding goal is to exceed the barriers of space with our own engine.

We are the Official Aeromodelling team of VIT Chennai focused on comprehensive aircraft and drone designs as engineering solutions. The team comprises of passionate and proficient engineers who aim to introduce Innovations in the domain of Aviation, specifically related to UAVs and Drones. We build Regular Class and Micro Class planes along with Drones from scratch and Customize them to achieve specific goals. We are a student-funded and student run team who also collaborate with External Organizations to build Innovative models.

Shaurya Racing is an official formula student team of VIT Chennai that aims at designing and manufacturing formula student cars to their finest potential. Shaurya Racing has been growing in knowledge and technicality ever since the start, we’ve achieved more than what we’ve achieved the previous year. Last season we secured the 9th position overall in Formula Bharat proving that we are capable of even better.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

With a total of 49 teams that enrolled for Formula Bharat 2023, We achieved:

  • overall ranking of 9th,
  • statics ranking of 6th,
  • 6th finish in engineering design
  • 8th in cost and manufacturing

In Formula Bharat 2022, ShauryaRacing finished 14th.
In Formula Bharat 2019, We claimed the 5th position out of 75 teams that participated.
The team was also named the Best Special Team by VIT Chennai.

A team can be compared with a puzzle when joined together brings up a beautiful picture, and which is when different types of people work together for same achievement come up with great achievements, this is exactly what team “THE ROAD RUNNERS” is all about. All teammates from different departments work together to build one of the best ATV possible. Recently we have participated in ATVC 2023 which was held in Pune and were successful in securing good positions under different categories. Our achievements from our recent ATVC 2023 were-

Team Saksham International is the official BAJA SAE team of VIT University Chennai. Every year, we design and manufacture an All-Terrain Vehicle and compete in national and international BAJA racing events. Born in 2012 as the brainchild of 2 engineering students, TSI currently has 38 engineers passionate about designing, analyzing, manufacturing and marketing All-Terrain Vehicles. The team comprises of 6 departments – namely the brakes, drivetrain, rollcage, vehicle dynamcs, rollcage& ergonomics, electrical and management departments. It is the synchronized working of these departments towards building a race car that embraces our passion for automotive engineering that makes TSI stand apart from its competition. Team Velociraptor Racing is the One and Only Electric Go-Kart Team at VIT Chennai run by students. Team Velociraptor Racing is determined to make an Electric Go-Kart that can compete and win at national Competitions and make the students aware of the potential of Electric Vehicles through the Electric Go-Kart.
